June 18, 2019Once your Google Ads starts working, it means that your ads and keywords are now beginning to gain a high volume of clicks.
The next step is to know which of these clicks convert to sales in the end. This won’t be possible without the installation of a conversion tracker.

It is important to have a conversion tracker since it will inform you if your ad campaign continues to generate leads, email signups, downloads, and other major actions for a business. You will also know which areas of the ad campaign are producing results and which ones do not. This will enable you to optimize all your bids, text, and the keywords accordingly.
The following are the steps to set up a conversion tracking for your Google Ads campaign:
Create a Conversion and Provide it with a Name
It’s important to give it a name that will be easy for the person managing, reporting, or evaluating the Adwords campaign to know. It should tell them what the conversion is. Then you press the “Webpage” button.
Select the Category of the Conversion
There are several options under this. These are signup, lead, purchase or sale, views of a key page, and others.
Select the Source of your Conversion
You have several sources for this. These are the following: call on-site, app download, and webpage. The value you choose depends on the kind of conversion you choose. There’s an option to use the same value for every conversion. You can also choose to use different values for each conversion. This requires you to edit the conversion tag for you to track transaction-specific values.
Choose a Conversion Window
Conversion window is the maximum time you prefer to count the conversions after a person clicks or interacts with the ad. This will depend on the sales cycle. It is possible to have different conversion window lengths for various conversion actions.
There is also the view-through conversion window which is at a default of one day. This only applies to video and display campaigns but not search campaigns.
Choose the Attribution Data
This is the part where you will tell Google the clicks that receive credit for the sale.
Install the Code
There are two options to install the code. This can be done manually. Google will provide you a snippet of code to put on your key pages. You may also put the email address of the developer and Google will send the code with the required instructions.
Analyze the Google Ads Conversion Data
It is through the Campaigns tab that you can find information about the following: ads, ad groups, and keyword levels. Then you click the Columns tab, the Conversions, and to customize the columns that appear.
